The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s (NRAEF) mission of service to the public is dedicated to enhancing the industry’s training and education, career development and community engagement efforts. The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and its programs attract people from all backgrounds to find a home in our industry, empower individuals to explore and chart their own path to success and advance the careers of the people we employ to make a positive impact across the country. ProStart, the cornerstone program of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, is a two-year, industry-backed culinary arts and restaurant management program for high school students. The program annually reaches approximately 150,000 students in 1,900+ schools in all 50 states, the Territory of Guam and Department of Defense Education Activity schools in Europe and the Pacific. By bringing together the industry and the classroom, ProStart gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents to open doors for fulfilling careers. It happens through a curriculum that includes all facets of the industry – culinary arts and restaurant management, and sets a high standard of excellence for students and the industry.
